FEDERAL
R&D GRANTS:
A Practical Lab Course
Federal R & D financing has emerged as a highly valuable
source of business growth capital. Entrepreneurs are increasing
using federal grants to start their companies, bridge them
through lean times, or fund internal research that product
sales are not yet able to support.
Winning federal grants requires a solid understanding of
the process, the ability to write strong proposals, and frequent
reporting and relationship building to facilitate later funding.
In this Caltech/MIT Enterprise Forum program, an expert panel
will critically discuss the grant process. Then, an intimate
look will be taken at winning Federal R&D grants through the
eyes of two entrepreneurs who have used federal funds to build
their companies.
Among the Issues and Questions addressed are:
- What federal agencies offer R&D funds and in what areas?
- What are the requirements for grant applications?
- Where/How do you drill down to the right grant opportunity?
- How are winning proposals written?
- How do you use R&D grants to build venture value for future
investors?
Our panel of advisors as well as the entrepreneurs will offer
perspectives on these questions in their presentations and open-forum
audience Q & A, as well as one-on-one discussion during post-program
networking.
